How they got Started
CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) was created by experienced health and safety professionals in 1997 to improve health and safety standards across the U.K.
In partnership with the Association of London Government (ALG), CHAS was a key developer of the core criteria held in the Approved Code of Practice which supported the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (now recognised as CDM 2015) and is a founder member of SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement). As one of the founders of third-party accreditation they are not only a trusted advisor on health and safety compliance, they are an authority.
Benefits of CHAS
Setting industry benchmarks, providing assurance and reassurance, and offering best-in-class services that are easy to use.
Over the years local authority health and safety and procurement professionals, with the support of the Health and Safety Executive, have developed the Contractor Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS). ARK’s Approved Contractor status highlights our desire to maintain and exceed expectations.
The nature of the Security Industry and the work that we do means that ARK representatives can often be placed in harm’s way. We take all risks very seriously, and our ongoing commitment to Health and Safety ensures that all officers have the knowledge and training required to try to minimise the threats that they face.
More about CHAS
They work together with contractors so that they can improve safety, which in turn create business opportunities, drive the industry forward and make the work done in UK considerably safer.
