On Friday 12th June ARK had our annual SIA ACS assessment.

Now in our 9th year we have come accustomed to a two day assessment within our office, where an auditor from our chosen assessing body (NSI) visits our office to run through all required elements and reviews evidence.

This year has been somewhat different for obvious reasons and our assessment took place virtually via Microsoft Teams. All required evidence was instantly shown on screen and acknowledged by our auditor, much in the same way that we normally would have, had the visit been conducted on site.

A physical day will follow later in the year to visit sites and customers.

Although current circumstances dictated this approach, due to the success and the ease in which it was done I wonder if this innovative approach could be used at least in some capacity moving forwards?

Covid restrictions have made us have to think outside the box in order to ‘get things done’ and it would be a great shame if we forget everything that we’ve learnt as soon as we are allowed to. The new normal could and should be more productive by using the technology that we have available to us in order to reduce costs and the environmental impact that business has on the world, and improve efficiencies.
